La E.626 con la maglia sganciabile (Foto del Mese n. 145 - Maggio 2022)

Negli anni '80 molti treni, passeggeri e merci, diretti a Palermo necessitavano del rinforzo di una locomotiva di spinta per superare le acclivi pendenze della linea di valico del Peloritani tra Messina e Villafranca Tirrena. Per la spinta in coda erano impiegate prevalentemente locomotive del gruppo E.626 attrezzate con uno speciale sistema di aggancio: la maglia sganciabile. In questa foto gentilmente concessa da W. Hardmeier vediamo la E.626.219 in procinto di accodarsi ad un convoglio passeggeri in sosta al binario 10 della stazione di Messina Centrale.

In the 80s many trains, passengers and freights, heading to Palermo needed the reinforcement of a thrust locomotive to overcome the steep slopes of the Peloritani pass line between Messina and Villafranca Tirrena.
For the this particular service were mainly used locomotives of the E.626 group equipped with a special coupling system: the detachable hook. In this photo kindly granted by W. Hardmeier we see the E.626.219 about to queue up to a passenger convoy parked at platform 10 of the Messina Centrale station.
