Grandma and the Crows 7/ The Ring of Locks Part 4

The boy suddenly noticed a shiny object in the dove's beak. He had just gotten curious when the dove set it down by his feet. He reached to pick it up but the shiny object just rolled and went in through the little opening into the basement under the veranda. The boy hesitated, no more than a second, and asked for the doors to be unlocked. He walked into the basement only to find the girl holding the shiny object in her palms with long locks of hair hanging behind her, falling past her shoulders and back, even reaching the back of her knees, and red blooms circled her crown in a half moon framing a face prettier than the boy could ever remember.
The boy forgot what he had come in for, forgot why he had put the girl down there. All he could focus on was the beautiful wild shiny locks flowing around the moon of the girl's face.
The girl walked up to him, put the shiny object in his palm, and walked past him towards and out of the doors. The boy looked down at his palm and saw the ring, his ring, the one he had lost many moons ago, the ring with the locks of her love engraved on it. He hesitated a long moment staring at the ring, and when he eventually looked up, the girl had gone. Nobody had seen her leave and nobody could say which way or when she had gone.
