My Pet Seagull - a photo on Flickriver

My Pet Seagull

            Actually, he (or she) thinks I am his pet.

This Western Gull has been hanging out in our backyard for the past month, encouraged by an occasional snack of people food.

Yesterday I gave him a shrimp, and rather than swallowing it whole in a fraction of a second, he held the shrimp in his mouth for 5 seconds while he made seagull cooing sounds. I'm glad he enjoyed it.

I was told to never feed the wild animals. All I could say was, Well, this is a seagull, and his wildness is questionable.
