El Palacio del Senado y su Biblioteca
Acabada la guerra de la independencia, Las Cortes elegidas tras la aprobación de la Constitución de 1812 primer hito del constitucionalismo español se trasladaron a Madrid. En 1814 hubo de habilitarse la Iglesia del convento de los los Padres Agustinos Calzados, para que las cortes de estructura unicameral pudiesen celebrar sus sesiones. Con el tiempo seria la sede del Senado.
En 1845,el Arquitecto Alvarez Bouquel realiza la primera gran reforma del convento, para convertirlo en un edificio de magnifica fachada de estilo sobre una composición general de corte romano. A partir de 1870, el arquitecto Rodriguez Ayuso introduce nuevas reformas, como la incorporación de la Biblioteca, de elementos de fundición en estilo gótico inglés y localizada en un antiguo claustro que constituye , por su organización espacial y elementos formales, uno de los puntos de máxima atracción del Palacio. The Senate Palace and its Library
After the war of independence, the Cortes elected after the approval of the Constitution of 1812 first milestone of Spanish constitutionalism moved to Madrid. In 1814 the Church of the convent of the Augustinian Fathers had to be enabled, so that the unicameral courts could hold their sessions. In time it would be the seat of the Senate.
In 1845, the architect Alvarez Bouquel carried out the first major reform of the convent, to turn it into a building of magnificent facade of style on a general composition of Roman court. From 1870, the architect Rodriguez Ayuso introduced new reforms, such as the incorporation of the Library, foundry elements in English Gothic style and located in an old cloister that constitutes, for its spatial organization and formal elements, one of the points of maximum attraction of the Palace.
