            I spent a few days in the blind at Boy Scout Woods. I didn't see  a lot of birds, but still had a great time. It was quite a rush when the occasional bird did approach.

 Each day many variables affect costal migrant bird abundance. A strong wind from the south usually means birds won't have a need to stop when they hit the Texas coastline. Might as well keep riding that wind. A strong wind from the north tends to make the birds come down to rest as soon as they are over land, but not always.  If the weather was stormy on the Yucatan the night before, birds might not have left Mexico. So many variables.

 These birds leave Mexico at night, fly across the gulf of Mexico, and show up on the US coastline the next afternoon. Pretty amazing.
