            Das Blaukehlchen (Luscinia svecica ist eine Singvogelart aus der Familie der Fliegenschnäpper (Muscicapidae). Namensgebend ist die auffallende Blaufärbung von Kehle und Vorderbrust, die das Männchen im Brutkleid zeigt. Je nach Unterart befindet sich auf diesem Grund ein zentraler weißer oder roter „Stern“. Die zehn Unterarten werden daher in zwei Gruppen geteilt, das Weißsternige und das Rotsternige Blaukehlchen (Tundrablaukehlchen). Bei manchen Unterarten fehlt der Stern jedoch.

The bluethroat (Luscinia svecica) is a small passerine bird that was formerly classed as a member of the thrush family Turdidae, but is now more generally considered to be an Old World flycatcher, Muscicapidae. It, and similar small European species, are often called chats.
