Native American Jewelry - Ortega's Turquoise Trail Trading Post - Sundial Cirle - Carefree Arizona

This is Ortega's Turquoise Trail Trading Post. I wandered in and they let me take some photos. If you can't find a nice piece of jewelry, art, or a tchotchke here, you aren't looking. I think it is amazing that Max Ortega is the 6th generation to run a Native American Trading Store. I met Gilbert Ortega in Scottsdale. I think he is Max's Grandfather. This shows entrepreneurial skill and humanity to relate to so many customers and Native American craftspeople over so long a period of time.

This is a special style with the large turquoise stones in the squash blossom necklace. Not seen as often as the smaller more worked turquoise.

After a nice hike in the McDowell Sonoran Preserve North, I headed into Carefree. The townsfolk were celebrating Earth Day with lots of festivities in the Sundial Circle area.
