            Amtrak champion view of last sleeper seen departing platform area at Tampa Union Station on the former ACL-line heading toward Lakeland, Florida, and other points to the Northeast, 1973.  You may notice what appears to be the conductor and a trainman standing by the tail gate in the last car's vestibule.  The train is passing the Peoples Gas System facility and large tank located in the downtown area.  Beyond the platforms to the left are some freight cars that include a Pittsburgh & Lake Erie hopper car and an Illinois Central box car.  The freight cars are situated on a track that is along the route to Old Port Tampa.  As you may observe, many of the station's tracks are no longer in use and grass has grown up covering them and their associated platforms.
