Its iconic spires, ribbed vaults, and flying buttresses were added during the 13th century. This historic site has served as both a place of worship and a defensive structure. Over a thousand years old, Mont Saint-Michel has a rich history, from its origins as a hermitage to its use as a prison in the 19th century. Today, it stands as a symbol of medieval craftsmanship, religious devotion, and cultural significance.
