Hedjaz Railway, Syria - a photo on Flickriver

            In memoriam Hedjaz Railway, Damascus - Dera'a line. The first engine (road number 90) was delivered new by Borsig in 1914, so it may have run the full line to Medina for a short period. The second locomotive is a Hartmann Mikado, delivered in 1918 during the last year of WWI and was used afterwards on the remaining Hedjaz Railway lines in Syria, Palestine and Transjordan. It finally remained in Syria. The train consists of our chartered coaches and around 15 freight wagons loaded with crop which were taken over at Dera'a by a Jordan diesel. May 2004
