Mons Hotel de ville. Comémoration de la bataille de Mons 1914 - Commemoration of the battle of Mons 1914

            Comémoration de la bataille de Mons, où se déroulèrent les 22, 23 et 24 août 1914 des combats acharnés entre les troupes de la B.E.F (British Expeditionary Force) et les soldats allemands. 
Ce fut le premier engagement des troupes du Commonwealth dans la guerre 14-18 et c’est dans cet engagement que fut tué le premier soldat britannique, un jeune éclaireur enterré au cimetière de Saint-Symphorien près de Mons. A noter que dans ce même cimetière est enterré un soldat canadien, qui fut le dernier soldat du Commonwealth tué dans cette guerre.

Commemoration of the battle of Mons, where fierce battles were fought between the British Expeditionary Forces (B.E.F.) and German soldiers on 22, 23 and 24 August 1914.
This was the first engagement of the Commonwealth troops in the 14-18 war and it was in this engagement that the first British soldier was killed, a young scout buried in the cemetery of Saint-Symphorien near Mons. Note that in this same cemetery is buried a Canadian soldier, who was the last Commonwealth soldier killed in this war.
