            Caps-de-Maria is a village in eastern Quebec on the Gaspé Peninsula in the Gaspésie-Îles-de-la-Madeleine region of the Town of Carleton-sur-Mer in the Regional County Municipality of Avignon in Canada. This place had been named in its English speaking form "Maria Capes" - until 1936.

- from "Lovell's Gazetteer of the Dominion of Canada (1908)" - MARIA CAPES, a post settlement in Bonaventure County, Quebec, 4 miles from Maria, on the Atlantic, Quebec & Western Ry. 

The Post Office at Maria Capes was established - 1 June 1879 - it changed name to - Caps de Maria - 16 September 1936. The Post office permanently closed - 13 October 1965 to coincide with the extension of Carleton Centre RR No. 1.
