Glowering Gargoyle, Ross on Wye - a photo on Flickriver

            St Mary's church dominates the town centre of Ross on Wye with its tapering spire from its hilltop location and is an impressive building to behold. Alas that's pretty much all I could do here, look at the exterior as I arrived after 5pm (later than planned) and the church was locked tight by then. It is normally open during the day I believe, as long as you arrive before five that is!

Ross is a frustratingly inaccessible place for me as a cyclist, it's a fair trek from the nearest stations thus has to be a late point in a day's cycling, and in this case too late, although a few longer than planned visits involving long chats earlier in the day could have tipped the balance there. A more recent trip similarly failed too (ran out of time and steam before I even got there) so it'll likely have to await me learning to drive, whenever that can be accomplished!
