Winchester Palace, Southwark - a photo on Flickriver

This ruined gabled wall with it's unusually designed rose window is all that survives of the medieval palace of the Bishops of Winchester (the Thames being the former northenmost extremity of their diocese).. The building underwent many changes of use after the Reformation and was badly neglected in later centuries. Today only the west wall of the former banqueting hall remains.
