The old town bridge and wall of Büdingen

            ENG: The Untertor (also popularly known as the Jerusalem Gate or Kreuztor) is a medieval twin tower complex with a city gate that forms the western entrance to the historic old town of Büdingen. As the most striking building, it is the city's landmark. The entire complex of Büding's old town is a protected cultural asset in accordance with the Hague Convention for the Protection of Cultural Assets in the Event of Armed Conflicts.

Büdingen is a medium-sized town in Hesse on the eastern edge of the Rhine-Main area, in the southeastern part of the Wetterau district. Büdingen is located in a wooded area on the Seemenbach, at the transition from the Wetterau to the Vogelsberg. The city is known nationwide for its medieval old town with castle, which is one of the best-preserved city complexes in Europe. With an area of ​​around 123 km², Büdingen is the largest city in the district and one of the largest in Hesse.

GER: Das Untertor (im Volksmund auch Jerusalemer Tor oder Kreuztor ) ist eine mittelalterliche Doppelturmanlage mit Stadttor, das den westlichen Eingang der historischen Altstadt von Büdingen bildet. Als markantestes Bauwerk stellt es das Wahrzeichen der Stadt dar. Die Gesamtanlage der Büdinger Altstadt gilt als geschütztes Kulturgut entsprechend der Haager Konvention zum Schutz von Kulturgut bei bewaffneten Konflikten.

Büdingen ist eine hessische Mittelstadt am östlichen Rande des Rhein-Main-Gebietes, im südöstlichen Teil des Wetteraukreises. Büdingen liegt in einem waldreichen Gebiet am Seemenbach, am Übergang der Wetterau zum Vogelsberg. Überregional ist die Stadt durch ihre mittelalterliche Altstadt mit Schloss bekannt, die zu den besterhaltenen Stadtanlagen Europas zählt. Büdingen ist mit rund 123 km² flächenmäßig die größte Stadt des Landkreises und eine der größten Hessens.
