Divriği - Ulu Cami & Darüşşifa: UNESCO World Heritage Site; inside the hospital

The Divriği Great Mosque and Hospital is Anatolia’s oldest religious and health complex, famous for its exquisite stone-carved decorations and architecture. The mosque was built on the order of the local Mengücek ruler Emir Ahmet Shah in 1228-1229. (Mengücek emirs ruled a territory formed ruled by regions of Erzincan, Kemah and Divriği in Eastern Anatolia in the 12th and 13th centuries). At the same time, the adjoining hospital was built on the order of his wife, Melike Turan Melek. The architect was Hürremshah of Ahlat. The monument is well preserved and has a long history, including use during World War II as the secret vault for the treasure of Topkapi Sarayi.
The complex is included on the UNESCO World Heritage Sites list.

Marea Moschee şi Spitalul din Divriği formează cel mai vechi ansamblu de acest tip din Anatolia, binecunoscut pentru arhitectura şi decoratiile în piatră deosebite. Moscheea a fost construită în anii 1228-1229 din ordinul emirului Ahmet Şah aparţinând dinastiei Mengücek (care a stapânit un teritoriu cuprinzând regiunile Erzincan, Divriği si Kemah din estul Anatoliei in secolele 12-13 d.Ch.). Spitalul alăturat moscheei a fost construit în aceeaşi perioadă din ordinul soţiei emirului, Melike Turan Melek. Arhitectul complexului a fost Hürremşah din Ahlat. Monumentul este foarte bine conservat şi are o istorie îndelungată. Printre altele, a servit de adăpost secret pentru tezaurul de la Palatul Topkapi în timpul celui de-al doilea Război Mondial. Ansamblul este cuprins în lista UNESCO a monumentelor considerate "mostenire a omenirii".
