Darstellung des Herrn Aschau im Chiemgau

            Hinter der doppeltürmigen Kirche ragen die imposanten Gipfel der Kampenwand auf. In der Spätgotik, gegen Ende des 15. Jahrhunderts wurde das einstige Kirchlein um ein zweischiffiges Langhaus und ein südliches Seitenschiff erweitert. Mitte des 18. Jahrhunderts kam dann noch das dritte Kirchenschiff hinzu. Die Altäre waren lange im gotischen Stil gehalten, doch vieles in der Kirchenausstattung hat dem damaligen barocken Zeitgeschmack weichen müssen. Zuletzt ließ Freiherr Theodor von Cramer-Klett den Hochaltar umgestalten. Liebhaber sakraler Kunst fasziniert vor allem der reiche barocke Stuck der Kirche von 1702 und die Freskierung von 1753. Das Gemälde auf dem Altar ist noch vom alten Barockaltar (1673) und veranschaulicht die Darstellung des Herrn im Tempel.
