Comet C/2020 F3 Neowise - close-up

            This shot was taken with a Nikon F7200 and a Nikon 300mm/F2.8 lens mounted on a Star Watcher Star Adventurer tracking mount. There are 11 shots stacked in Photoshop, each shot is 20 secs at f6.3 and ISO 800.

I did take a lot of shots, and whilst the stars are pretty much stationary (I spent a while setting up the mount), I was surprised at how much the comet moved... obviously I know it is moving pretty fast, but I was not expecting to pick it up over a short period!

I am quite pleased with this shot... there was a lot of light pollution and I have no filters yet.

Neowise is such a beautiful object. I was taken aback with the view when I first saw it, not expecting it to be so visible. It took me right back to my first view of Jupiter and Saturn, and was up there with sitting on the top of Gokyo Ri with my best mate looking across to Everest 20+ years ago!

Anyway, if you have not seen it yet, I highly recommend the effort as it is fabulous... just take a pair of binoculars and look to the north around 1-3 am. I believe we have good views in the UK until the end of Jul 2020 at least.

Neowise's orbit changes dramatically after this pass of the Sun, and won't be back for 6800ish years!
