Piccadilly Circus product placement - a photo on Flickriver

Built in 1819 to connect the newly built Regent Street with the older Piccadilly, Piccadilly Circus is one of London's great landmarks for tourists, although it seems to hold few attraction for Londoners themselves. Of particular note -- as well as the cacophony of busy road junctions -- is the statue widely regarded as being of Eros (although actually his brother Anteros), sculpted by Alfred Gilbert and completed in 1893, and the curved wall of illuminated signs, visible here, on the corner of Shaftesbury Avenue and Glasshouse Street, advertising products from London's Olympic sponsors, including Coca Cola and McDonalds.
