"...not to be confused with a modern laptop"

            A marble grave relief from the late Hellenistic period, circa 100 B.C.E., seen at a visiting show at the Met from the Pergamon Museum in Berlin, It's a striking piece, and not just because it DOES look like the woman is looking at a laptop.

"The high status of the deceased woman portrayed here is conveyed by her stylish dress and the snake jewelry on her arms; the high-backs, ornate cushioned chair, and the mirrored box (not to be confused with a modern laptop) that her servant girl holds out before her.. The relief may have been produced in a workshop on the island of Delos, a major trade center and slave market in Hellenistic times."
