The Gift Of Nothing - a photo on Flickriver

            This tiny, white, porcelain bowl was given to me as a gift by someone who was my friend many years ago. It only measures about 2 1/2 inches across, not counting the little Chinese figurines on either side. It holds less than 1/2 cup, so it's really only useful for decorative display, much like the friend who gave it to me. I took this shot planning to use it for this week's (1/4/2020) Macro Monday challenge ("Gift") but I just missed the deadline (again.) I was originally going to put something like raspberries inside, for the contrast, but then the empty whiteness of it reminded me of one of my favorite poems by Mary Oliver:
