Eton College

            In 1440 Henry VI founded "The King’s College of Our Lady of Eton beside Windsor". A year later he founded King’s College Cambridge, which was to be supplied with scholars from Eton. From the 70 scholars for whom Henry provided, the school has expanded to about 1,300 boys aged from 13 to 18. Fees are currently £37,000 per annum, plus another £800 for clothes. About 20% of the boys receive financial support through a range of bursaries and scholarships.
On the first floor of the main entrance building is the Upper School, which was added in 1694 as Eton College expanded.
