500th Anniversary Regina Coeli
The convent of Regina Coeli is located on Regina Street, located in the historic center of the city, in the heart of the Lower District. It belongs to the Order of the Franciscan Sisters of Poor Clares, named because it was its founder Santa Clara, disciple and follower of San Francisco de Asís.

The date of the foundation of the convent was the year 1519, the same year of the Magallanes-Elcano Expedition, being founded by a private devotee named García Díaz de Gibraleón, who donated the houses he had in the Arrabal de la Ribera so that in they will establish the Poor Clares. The convent, following the wishes of its protector, would be placed under the invocation of Regina Coeli.

El convento de Regina Coeli se encuentra en la calle Regina, ubicado en el centro histórico de la ciudad, en el corazón del Barrio Bajo. Pertenece a la Orden de la religiosas franciscanas clarisas, llamadas así porque fue su fundadora Santa Clara, discípula y seguidora de San Francisco de Asís.

La fecha de la fundación del convento fue el año 1519, el mismo año de la Expedición de Magallanes-Elcano, siendo fundado por un devoto particular llamado García Díaz de Gibraleón, quien donó las casas que tenía en el Arrabal de la Ribera para que en ellas se establecieran las Clarisas. El convento, siguiendo los deseos de su protector, se pondría bajo la advocación de Regina Coeli.
