On Our Way to Exeter - a photo on Flickriver

            Taken in September 1973.

On the train to Exeter after leaving London's Paddington Station. These two women sat across the aisle from us. We didn't talk to them but the one on the left told her friend about a trip she'd taken to the U.S. She said that in New York she was frightened by all the guns -- not in the hands of bad guys, but on the hips of the cops. (This was when English cops were still unarmed and their American counterparts carried bulky .38 Specials -- quite a contrast.)
