LUNAR MODULE SEPARATES – Once the Apollo 10 lunar module had swung over the top of its high ellipse and down for its second pass over the lunar surface, the spacecraft’s two stages separated, as shown in this drawing. The descent stage (bottom) remains in an elliptical orbit about the moon, while the ascent stage, with the two astronauts aboard, was readied for the first burn of the engines, which would return them to the command ship. It was during this part of the operation Thursday that astronauts Thomas Stafford and Eugene Cernan had difficulty because of a switch improperly positioned.”

Rarely do you see any depiction of this, if at all. Probably a pretty daunting task, of a rather abstract & rare event...especially from a perspective view. Very well done I think. Although there’s no attribution, a near identical depiction of the spacecraft (with instead earth below & in association with Apollo 9) is traceable to Russell Arasmith, noted artist and eventual Editorial Art Director of the Los Angeles Times:

Yet, so many others were discarded. What was so special about Mr Arasmith or his works that merited this 'honor'? Don't get me wrong, I'm totally elated that some element(s) within the NASA hierarchy actually managed to get something right.
