In The Takeoff Zone 🎧 - a photo on Flickriver

The takeoff zone is the area 'out the back' where the waves are breaking. This is the place most surfers will sit to ensure they're in the best position for when a set of waves arrives to catch. Also known as the lineup, it's the place where most surfers wait, sitting on their surfboards.

This day at Currumbin Beach, Gold Coast (Australia), the waves were pretty small, here and out at the point. So I just had a dip in the sea and walked around taking shots and talking with friends. The day, however, was beaut ... the water was warm ... the company great ... and the beach, as beautiful as ever.

I sometimes sing or hum this song to myself when I'm waiting patiently for a wave, which can sometimes be quite a while. I imagine the wave and ocean are a girl I'm waiting for, which also amuses me:
