La Bombonera, San Juan - a photo on Flickriver

            This family-run bakery and coffee shop was founded in 1902. The counter is long and the booths are many, but you have to get there as early as you can to avoid waiting in line. The shop fills with locals trading gossip and slowly eating their breakfasts. Try the mallorca con mantequilla (a round, flat pastry dusted with confectioner’s sugar and served with butter).
