Cenni storici tratti dal sito internet del Comune di Costigliole
Tra il 1200 e il 1300 ci fu l'espansione dell'originario nucleo abitativo con la costruzione dell'imponente castello sulle cui rovine in seguito, fu edificato il Castello Reynaudi. Agli inizi dei '400, per iniziativa dei Costanzia, vi fu un ampliamento urbanistico del borgo con la costruzione della Parrocchia di Santa Maria Maddalena.
Nel 1487 le truppe di Carlo 1 di Savoia, nel corso delle operazioni contro il Marchese Ludovico II, distrussero tutte le opere di fortificazione di Costigliole, arrecando gravi danni al tessuto urbano.
Tra il 1530 ed il 1536 Costigliole fu ancora e ripetutamente occupata e saccheggiata dalle truppe francesi alleate del Marchesato in lotta contro i Savoia.
Dal XVII secolo in poi venne meno l'esclusivo dominio dei Costanzia ed iniziò un lungo periodo in cui una nobile e ricca famiglia originaria di Savigliano, i Crotti, acquìstò il potere e fece erigere un nuovo ed imponente castello (l'attuale castello Reynaudi) sulle rovine del vecchio.
Negli anni seguenti varie sciagure si abbatterono su Costigliole.
Nel 1630 una gravissima epidemia dì peste decimò la popolazione e nel 1691 le truppe francesi, in ritirata da Cuneo, rasero al suolo il paese.

Between 1200 and 1300 there was the expansion of the original residential settlement with the construction of the imposing castle on the ruins of which was later built the castle Reynaud. At the beginning of '400, on the initiative of Constanzia, there was an expansion of the urban village with the construction of the parish of Santa Maria Maddalena.
In 1487 the first troops of Charles of Savoy, in the course of operations against the Marquis Ludovico II, destroyed all the fortifications of Costigliole, causing serious damage to the urban fabric.
Between 1530 and 1536 and repeatedly Costigliole was still occupied and looted by French troops in the Allied struggle against the Marquis of Savoy.
From the seventeenth century onwards was not the exclusive domain of Constanzia, and began a long period in which a noble and wealthy family from Savigliano, the Crotti, purchased power and built a magnificent new castle (now Castle Reynaudi) on the ruins of the old.
In the following years various misfortunes fell upon Costigliole.
In 1630 a severe epidemic of plague decimated the population and in 1691 the French troops, retreating from Cuneo, razed the village.
