Sunday in the kitchen with capon, Bronx, 1960

            Too few of us to be Thanksgiving, so this was just a Sunday dinner in the Bronx, around 1960. We're in the kitchen. I'm the obnoxious, hyper kid jumping like a jack-in-the-box and playing to the camera.
Video opens with Caterina, my grandmother, serving. My grandfather, Pasquale, worrying that I am about to knock over his camera. He's smiling, nervously, tensely. Uncle Joe and Aunt Rose are visiting. My mother, Clara, is demonstrating her usual patience with me.
I can't be sure that this is not a turkey, but I remember our family preference for "cappone". My job was to go to the live meat market and pick out the lucky bird.
