Colibrí Grande Colinegro [White-vented Plumeleteer] (Chalybura buffonii) (♀ juv)

            Lugar: Finca La Pomarrosa, Barlovento, centro norte de Venezuela.
No estaba seguro de su identidad en razón de ese color amarillento en la parte inferior, de modo que le consulté a Farid Ayaach, Gerente General de la Sociedad Venezolana de Ciencias Naturales y experto en colibríes. Luego de revisar sus libros me confirmó que era de esta especie y que el color amarillento era propio de las hembras juveniles que al madurar lo pierden.
Gracias a Farid por su valiosa colaboración para tratar de resolver el enigma.

P.S. He agregado varios signos de interrogación porque mi amigo Jhonathan Miranda, integrante destacado de las recientes promociones de ornitólogos y Asistente de Investigación en la Colección Phelps, me indicó que cree que más bien se trate de un Tucusito coronado [Violet-crowned Woodnymph] (Thalurania colombica) o de un Tucusito moradito [Fork-tailed Woodnymph] (Thalurania furcata), o a lo mejor de un Tucusito cabeza azul [Violet-headed Hummingbird] (Klais guimeti). Luego de que revise los ejemplares de la Colección nos informará el resultado.

Place: La Pomarrosa Farm, Barlovento, north-central Venezuela.
I was not sure on its ID due to the yellowish color in underparts, so that I consulted Farid Ayaach, the General Manager of the Venezuelan Natural Sciences Society, and an expert on hummingbirds. After revising his books he confirmed me that it was a Chalybura buffonii, whose juvenile females had this pattern, loosing the yellowish color when maturing.
Thank you to Farid for his valuable cooperation to try to solve the mystery.

P.S. I have added some question marks because my friend Jhonathan Miranda, an outstanding member of the newest ornithologist promotions and a Research Assistant in the Phelps Collection, said me that he thinks that it could be better a Tucusito coronado [Violet-crowned Woodnymph] (Thalurania colombica) or a Tucusito moradito [Fork-tailed Woodnymph] (Thalurania furcata), or perhaps a Tucusito cabeza azul [Violet-headed Hummingbird] (Klais guimeti). After revising the related skins in the Collection he will report us his findings.
