Asterton, Shropshire - a photo on Flickriver

            When we spent a few days in Shropshire in early November we visited Church Stretton, which is in the middle of the Shropshire Hills, and took the narrow country road up over the Long Mynd, eventually coming to the little hamlet of Asterton, just across the other side of the cattle grid. It is well known for being at the foot of the long, steep and precipitous single lane road that runs down the western ridge of the Long Mynd - the road that we had just driven down. Apparently, this road is often closed during spells of adverse weather in the winter.
