Chorthippus parallelus - the Meadow Grasshopper (female)

I have seen the pink form of this normally green coloured grasshopper before but never one with such vivid colour as this one.
The female of Chorthippus parallelus is larger than the male, growing up to about 22mm in length and has short wing cases. The male has longer wing cases that extend almost to the end of the abdomen but both sexes are flightless. They are found right across Europe, usually in damp grassland habitats up to 2000m altitude. They are herbivorous, feeding mainly on grasses.
