The Honda Pan European has two luggage pockets buried in the bodywork either side of the steering headstock, and it's very common amongst riders to outfit either or both of them with some sort of power sockets, because Honda never bothered, and every rider has their own ideas on how to do it.

The Pan European helpfully comes with an accessory fusebox that powers a five-way connector at the front, into which is often plugged the Honda Quartet Harness, which gives four plugs offering switched and unswitched 12V options plus the indicators. Quite why Honda didn't include the brake and tail lights in that bundle is a mystery, though. My bike came with a permanently live cigar socket, into which could be plugged a second unit with two cigar sockets plus one USB – but the wiring was the worst sort of bodge and it looked terrible, so I removed it all.

For the left-hand pocket I made a similar but nicer version of the 12V powered box that I had created for my Africa Twin back in 2008. That had two standard cigar sockets originally but in 2019 I replaced one with a twin USB unit to power my phone and GPS. However, unlike the Africa Twin's box which is wired in place, Fidra demanded a nicer solution. I added an XT60 panel mount connector to the input, so that if I ever needed a different box of tricks (or if I sell the bike, I suppose) I can just swap it out. I used the same lighty-up USB unit again and as before, it generally powers my phone and GPS. The USB leads are simply trailed out of the pocket and the lid closed to, but not latched.

Were I doing it again now, I would probably install one or two panel mount XT60s in the pocket and a second pair of USB sockets, as I did for the right-hand pocket.
