Un oiseau très particulier :
Le cincle plongeur utilise une technique de pêche unique : il plonge la tête la première dans l'eau jusqu'à s'immerger complètement, et marche sur le fond à contre-courant, en bombant le dos et écartant légèrement les ailes afin de profiter du courant pour être rabattu vers le fond. Lorsque l'eau est plus profonde ou agitée, il étale sa queue tronquée et utilise ses ailes pour se propulser et résister davantage au courant.
Il trouve sa nourriture en retournant les pierres du lit avec son bec et en fouillant les algues et autres plantes subaquatiques. Il localise ses proies à la vue, ses yeux étant protégés par de minces replis de peau sous les paupières, appelés membranes nictitantes, visibles lorsque l'oiseau est perché car il cligne fréquemment.
Son plumage est très dense, une membrane recouvre ses narines qui peuvent être obturées lorsqu'il est sous l'eau et ses glandes uropygiennes sont plus grosses que chez les autres passereaux. (source Wikipédia)

A very special bird:
The dipper uses a unique fishing technique: it dives head first into the water until completely immersed, and walks on the bottom against the current, bulging his back and slightly spreading the wings to take advantage of the current to be folded down to the bottom. When the water is deeper or agitated, it spreads its truncated tail and uses its wings to propel itself and resist the current more.
It finds its food by turning the stones of the bed with its beak and searching algae and other underwater plants. It locates its prey in sight, its eyes being protected by thin folds of skin under the eyelids, called nictitating membranes, visible when the bird is perched because it blinks frequently.
Its plumage is very dense, a membrane covers its nostrils that can be closed when under water and its uropygian glands are larger than in other passerines.
