Hong Kong Botanical Garden, Marie-Félicité w/Bigsis, about 1912

            Photograph taken same day as that of HK Central District and the hillside of Victoria Peak.  That hat is in another shot, of Marie-Félicité posing in her coat. The harbor and Kowloon are barely visible in the background.

The Fountain was removed in the 1970s when the garden was redone.

Grateful acknowledgments go to the Hong Kong Public Records Office, whose online archives I browsed until my eyes bled. Through them I learned that this place is indeed Hong Kong, and that the Grandel-Semichon family lived on Chatham Road in Kowloon.

Photographer in all the Hong Kong series is almost certainly the husband, Jean-Baptiste Jules Semichon
