is common in Starrs Creek Reseve with many monstrous trees.Occasionally one falls over creating a lot of destruction and importantly,a break in the canopy where pioneer species eagerly grasp the opportunity to establish themselves,and at the same time creating the conditions on the ground for the emergent trees to prosper and eventually break through shading out the pioneer species.

Starrs Creek Rainforest Reserve is situated midway around the forest loop road leaving the Pacific Highway at Coopernook just North of Taree,NSW ,Australia and passing Vincents Lookout,Newbys Cave,Flat Rock Lookout,Starrs Creek Reserve,Big Nellie,Waitui Falls,Hannam Vale and back to the highway at Moorland.
Four Wheel Drive access is recommended beyond Newbys Cave.
