A few years ago by brother in North Queensland sent down some cutting stems of this species to my father in Tuncurry. He's 97 and has had great success growing the species and this year, February 2020, with all the rain, the plant has had a good crop of fruit and now in early March it is flowering magnificently. Unfortunately he was unable to see the plant in fruit or flower because in early February it was time for him, and his wife (92) to move into a nursing home even though they are both still in pretty good shape. I took these pictures to show them the plant in flower having previously photographed the plant in fruit.
Apparently Hylocerus undatus is regarded as a serious weed in northern Queensland and south eastern NSW, Australia because left to its own devices it can attach and climb up any surface, including tall trees where its volume can become so great that it eventually pulls trees down.
There are a number of Hylocerus undatus subspecies and a range of colours in the fruit and flowers with some species having differeing interior flesh. The fruit is grown commercially.
These photos of the flowers were taken on 7th March 2020, one day before final settlement on the sale of my parents home. 
In many ways a sad day however what better way to say goodby to their home of 13 years than for such beautiful flowers to greet the new owners.
