Prallsville Mills - a photo on Flickriver

Prallsville Mills

            This is the back side of the grist mill.  The Delaware & Raritan canal is at the right.  The mill is just at the northern edge of Stockton, NJ, on rte. 29.  The original mill was built in 1794 and operated until 1874 when it was destroyed by fire.  It was rebuilt within three years with masonry and is what we have today.  The original mill was a grist mill but over the years a sawmill and a linseed oil mill were added, all water powered.  The Delaware river is just to the left of the canal.
