Dell Monroe Wilmoth
Dell Monroe Wilmoth, age 73, died at Butte Convalescent Center on Friday, December 23, 2005.
He was born March 20, 1932, in Richfield, Idaho, Lincoln County, to the late Dennie and Bertha Lee Gray Wilmoth. He attended Richfield High School.
Dell served in the U.S. Army, from January 1953 to March 1961 including service in Salzburg, Germany following World War II. He received decorations including the Army Occupation Medal for his service in Germany, the National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. Dell was honorably discharged from the Army on March 3, 1961 as a Corporal.
Dell spent much of his career as a heavy equipment operator, including nearly 8 years of service with the Anaconda Company working in the Berkley Pit., and spent many years working in mines in Idaho, Wyoming, Washington, Nevada and Montana. Dell was also owner/operator of a landscaping and janitorial service in Sun Valley, Idaho.
Dell was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing—especially fly fishing. Mining was in his blood and he counted prospecting and gold panning among his cherished hobbies. He was a beloved father and grandfather.
Survivors include five daughters: Deborah Ann Mankins, Dana Lynne Parmely, Shanna Rae Rodriguez, and Tammy Lee Wilmoth, all of Butte, and Sheri Kay Dailey of Germany. Dell is also survived one brother, Darrel Gene Wilmoth and family of Hanna, Wyoming, and 14 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, 2 sisters-in-law, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Floyd and Boyd, a sister Alice, a son, one sister-in-law, one nephew, and one grandson.
The final care arrangements are being handled by Wayrenen-Richards Funeral Home. Viewing will be Friday, December 30 from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m . Funeral services will be held immediately following the viewing. Burial services will be held in Richfield, Idaho at a later date.
