37 903, 37 240, and 37 688, Severn Tunnel Junction, February 28th 1987

            37 903, 37 240, and 37 688 are seen here at Severn Tunnel Junction on February 28th 1987. Two out of the six Class 37/9 conversions were present, the other being 37 906.

903 was built by Vulcan Foundry as D6949, entering service in December 1964.  She was withdrawn in December 1999, and cut up by HNRC at Crewe in October 2005.

240 was built by Vulcan Foundry as D6940, entering service in August 1964. She is now at Tyseley.

688 was built by Vulcan Foundry as D6905, entering service in October 1963.  She was released from Crewe Works that month (February 1987) after modification from 37 240.  She is Preserved, and on hire to Locomotive Services Limited.
