Stratford-upon-Avon ( known locally as “Stratford”) is a market town and civil parish in south Warwickshire, England (UK). It lies on the River Avon, 22 miles (35 km) south east of Birmingham and 8 miles (13 km) south west of Warwick.

The Royal Shakespeare Company resides in Stratford's Royal Shakespeare Theatre, one of Britain's most important cultural venues.

The Royal Shakespeare Company (RSC) is a major British theatre company, based in Stratford-upon-Avon. The company employs 700 staff and produces around 20 productions a year from its home in Stratford-upon-Avon. The RSC plays regularly in London, Newcastle-upon-Tyne,  on tour across the UK, and internationally.
