"Morris J vans were introduced to the metropolitan area road service in 1949 and ran until their retirement in 1965. This new fleet of custom designed patrol vans were installed with a two-way radio. By 1960 the fleet consisted of 150 'J' vans. The highest mileage cover by a 'J' van during service was 198,000 miles"
