Wallerawang Post Office - built 1912 - see below

Although a post office was established at 'Wallerawang' in 1870 it was in fact in Lidsdale: in 1871 a second P.O. was opened at the new railway station, and called Wallerawang Railway Station P.O. until 1873 when it became Wallerawang P.O. and the original Wallerawang P.O. became Lidsdale P.O. Wallerawang P.O. moved from the station in 1875 and occupied various private premises until the present P.O. was built by the government in 1912-13, housing the manual telephone exchange as well. This enhanced status reflected the town's recently acquired position as the administrative centre for Blaxland Shire. In 1993 the P.O. and adjacent residence were sold to Colin and Janet Harris who continue to operate the postal service under licence.
