Wedgwood-style monogram cake - a photo on Flickriver

            A quick mini 4-inch lemon cake that I made as a gift for family members who recently got married in secret after being engaged for 25 years!  

They wanted to keep all celebrations low-key, so I felt that the simple design of this monogram cake, in Wedgwood-style colours and incorporating their entwined initials, would be in keeping with that simplicity.

It was also a good excuse to practice royal icing piping again!  Initials still a little wobbly so more practice still required, but I was quite pleased with it.  

Cake was a lemon madeira with lemon and limoncello syrup, filled with lemon buttercream and lemon curd, and covered in sugarpaste. All decorations hand-piped in white royal icing, finished with a wide black grosgrain ribbon around the base.
