By default this model returns to "auto zoom composition" mode at each power up. This is an unsettling behavior where at a half-press of the shutter release, the camera zooms in or out in order to "improve" the composition. It's rather opaque what logic the camera uses for this, or even what the inputs are which affect it, although focus distance and portrait-vs.landscape orientation definitely count. Distant subjects always seem to trigger full telephoto, even when shooting something frame-filling like a large building.

The camera has full motorized advance and rewind, and programmed exposure modes which do not give the user any feedback on the shutter speed or aperture to be selected.
