Abernethy Gold - a photo on Flickriver

Abernethy Gold

            I was walking back to the car rather uninspired, I'd struggled with finding a new composition at Loch Mallachie and the wind had got up making reflections in a shot impossible. Then in a sea of Scotts Pine these two Silver Birch trees just stood out like gold. It took about 20 min to work at this composition before I was happy... and to wait till I had no one on the path. I did take one shot with a couple walking but they had bright outdoor clothes on and it detracted from the natural beauty of the forrest landscape too much. Some subtle evening light was all I was getting but I think it makes for a nice tonal range with no highlights or shadows to speak of really.
