Washington Chess

            It's been a busy day and I'm too tired to process a photograph so I thought I'd take a deep dive into my archive. My last big holiday post children was a city break for 2 weeks to NYC. I gave street photography a go for the very first time and this was one of my fave images of the trip. Its two guys simply sitting out on the street in Washington Square playing chess. I remember thinking this is bold as I want to get here... shooting at 40mm seemed wide and I had to be close in to get this. 

I always feel a little uneasy shooting street photography... but after COVID its defo an area of photography I want to try again. I love the challenge of trying to capture of emotion and mood in the shot. The trick is getting that eye contact that conveys true feeling... its not easy!
