Bill in East Texas commented about their outhouse being stolen and it reminded me of all the outhouse stories my dad used to tell. He was a country boy and every farm house where he lived had outhouses long after inside bathrooms were the norm in town. Every Halloween he and his pals would go around tipping over outhouses. (They were fairly temporary sheds since the easiest way to "clean one out" on a farm was simply to dig a new pit and move the outhouse to it). Of course they finally tipped one over to be met with yelling and cursing - from the farmer inside.

The funniest story to me was when Dad was little, watching his dad working inside the outhouse to make repairs. He got the bright idea to tease his mom so went running into the house yelling, "Mommy! Mommy! Dad fell down the outhouse hole!" This panicked her so badly - their pit was DEEP - that when she got out there and discovered all was well she gave him the only spanking of his life.
