ice, snow, and water - a photo on Flickriver

Similar to what a large area of the USA experienced overnight, we plunged from 42 degrees Fahrenheit (5.5 C) late yesterday afternoon to -8 (-22), and a -30 windchill, by morning, a 50-degree drop. I'm not at all a fan of cold weather, especially the mix of very cold weather and snow. But I knew I had some good photo chances, and so I went outside for a few minutes. And yes, I bundled up and yes I was cold anyway. But I got to my destination, this icy patch beside the place where the creek outside my house drops in a short waterfall.

It was predicted to get up to 7 degrees or so, but it's 2:30 and it's still below zero. I have no plans to step outside again today, but in the next few days after it has warmed up a little bit, I plan to go out looking for icicles and maybe even iced-over waterfalls.
