Notice that its tongue is extended. It seems to have found something to eat. These woodpeckers are best known for doing most of their hunting on the ground, mostly ants. They will also come to suet, but this may be the first time I've seen one feeding in a tree other than a suet feeder. Shortly after this I photographed birds from a group of at least six flickers feeding on the ground, flying back and forth between trees and grass. I saw at least six, probably seven, on the ground at the same time, and since they were coming and going there may have been several more. All that gave me a good look were males (with the mustache).
